Pilliga Ultra - For Wild Places
For Wild Places is a new way of community-building designed to turn the energy of movement into protection for the places we depend on. Through life-changing outdoor events that raise awareness, drive sustainability, and support environmental causes, they allow people to action their desires for a better future for all.
Founded by a small and driven group of outdoor enthusiasts, For Wild Places is a collective of runners, hikers, mountain bikers and surfers with a common goal of transforming a shared passion for outdoor sports into collective environmental activism.
One of their events is the Pilliga Ultra (PU). The PU is an ultramarathon event that seeks to fundraise while sharing the importance of the Pilliga Forest and its imminent threat from Santos' coal seam gas exploration. The funds will go to community grassroots initiatives via grants, particularly legal actions taken by the Traditional Owners, the Gomeroi and Wailwan People from the Gomeroi Nation.
The project included:
Creation and update of assets, resources, and handbooks to manage, coordinate and recruit volunteers.
Creation of templates and email journeys for event participants.
Update participants' resources, such as the fundraising manual, social media guidelines, etc.
Website copy update.
Monitoring of the Raisely platform and event ticketing.
General reporting and project management.
